I fell in love with orb chandeliers and thought how adorable one would be in a nursery. After searching various stores and online, I couldn't find one that I LOVED that didn't cost more than her furniture! This one at NFM was a contender but it was so small and at close to $200, it just didn't seem worth it. However, it was good inspiration! After looking up a few DIY sites, we figured we could most definitely do this on our own.
Our inspiration...
Supplies? A chandelier from my aunt's basement that she was no longer using, two large embroidery hoop sets, metal push pins, some wood stain (kona) and a can of oil rubbed bronze Rustoleum spray paint from our basement. Total cost? $12.99.
First things first, removing the bulbs and taping off the chandelier.
Next we used a foam brush for putting on a thin coat of wood stain on the embroidery hoops. Two sets with 4 hoops total.
Then we used the metal push pins to attach the hoops just how we wanted them.
Quick coat of the spray paint...
This was the goooorgeous light fixture in the nursery before! A good family friend, Don helped us out and was pretty sure this light was at least 50 years old. (We aren't sure where we will put this gem now).
The light is perfect for the room! Just the right size and just the right amount of light going through the room with shadows throughout. For $12.99 this was a steal of a deal. So happy :)
