Splash of Paint (or two) and New Floors

The nursery was finally cleared and I couldn't wait to throw some paint on the used-to-be white walls!

This was a pretty big ordeal.

It started when I had a moment of weakness in the paint section of Lowes when Loren said, "grey for the nursery? She needs a little girl color!" So I agreed and we went with 3 samples of mint green. We got home and threw the 3 colors on the wall and I hated them. I was pretty confident that I could run back to Lowes and pick an in between color that I would be happy with. Bought a gallon, came home and threw THAT on the wall and I didn't. Small meltdown and Loren went back to Lowes (for the third time). He got home and I refused to even look at the color and said, "lets just do it."

Shortly after recovering from the minor meltdown, I had a major meltdown. I dropped the gallon of paint on the new floors. To be fair, Loren freaked out more than I did. He left and headed for "supplies" while I raced up and down the stairs gathering buckets of water while dumping the paint filled used ones.

He found a goo-gone that appeared to be less gooey and started scrubbing. All the paint came up (even between the cracks!) and we thought we were good to go. Gave up on the room for the night and in the morning had a little surprise. The goo-gone had removed the poly and stain :/

We decided to ignore the floors for now and instead added some blinds and Loren finished painting. Only... I didn't like the color. Not just "didn't like" it, I despised it. It was awful. I couldn't for the life of me remember why I didn't stick to my neutrals. I am not a color person.

After two weeks of passing the room, flipping on the light and imagining a nursery with mint green walls... I just couldn't do it. I caved and told Loren just how awful the room color was. The next morning we made a quick trip to Lowes, grabbed a random grey (of course) and he repainted the room. He's kind of the best. P.S. This ended up being my most favorite paint color in the house!

Next up, alllllll the not so white trim got a fresh coat and the vent got a coat of oil rubbed bronze. Now the floors needed to be fixed. Loren sent me out of the house so he could stain and poly and I came home to a good surprise! Fresh, wet floors :)

While Loren had his work cut out for him in the nursery, I once again decided I would be the most craftiest person. I brought out my sewing machine, picked up some fabric and searched for DIY baby headbands. Turns out, they are super easy! She is going to have so many accessories :)

Until baby Babe gets here, baby Harper is my little model. She couldn't be more perfect.

And finally, FINALLY the nursery is ready to decorate and I couldn't be happier! Next on the list, doing an accent wall, picking out her little furniture, figuring out wall art and getting a big fluffy rug :)
